Sen. Gbenga Ashafa, a former two-term member of the Senate, says the nation is gradually easing towards sustainable prosperity under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Ashafa, a former Managing Director (MD) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
He spoke with NAN on the sidelines of the Fs Club 45th Anniversary and 2025 Induction of New Members and Investiture of Patrons Ceremony in Lagos.
Ashafa, a former President of the social club, said that the country was no longer in a hopeless situation.
“We have gone through a lot of hardship, but we can feel it right now that we are easing toward prosperity, little by little.
“As a matter of fact, the number of Nigerians seeking greener pasture outside the country has reduced.
“Nigerian people are now looking inward to have skills, look at their environment to make money and contribute their quota to the economy.
“We have not got there yet but with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President, Nigeria will surely be put on track,” Ashafa, who represented Lagos East in the senate, said.
Calling citizens to support Tinubu for second term, Ashafa said, “this is only fair. Let us look at the two years in the first term and what he has done”.
According to him, Tinubu’s reforms have stabilised the economy.
He said that this testimony had been confirmed by world organisations such as the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.
“They (world bodies) have agreed that Nigeria is growing. The economy of Nigeria is growing, there is stability with the foreign exchange,” he said.
He, however, said more needed to be done to improve the productive sector to create a better environment for job creation.
“That is what Bola Tinubu is doing. We have not gotten there yet, but we will get there,” he added.
He applauded Tinubu’s sterling performance in education and social schemes. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
