Rep. Eugene Dibiagwu, representing Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency of Imo, says Gov. Hope Uzodimma has performed exceedingly well in the last five years in the state.
Dibiagwu made the remark while featuring on the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Personality Interview Series on Sunday in Abuja.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker attributed the robust and cordial relationship between Abuja-based politicians from Imo and Uzodimma to the impressive performance of the governor.
“Well, it’s been a very good story in the past five years. Gov. Uzodimma, who is also the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), has done remarkably well for the people of the state.
“There has been tremendous infrastructural development in Imo and that is why there is peace in the state at the moment.
“It is an infrastructure revolution in Imo. Gov. Hope has done exceedingly well. When you visit Imo, you will see, not just projects but quality projects,” he said.
Dibiagwu recalled that during President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to the state, he inaugurated what he described as one of the finest flyovers in Nigeria, constructed and delivered under Uzodimma’s administration.
“Before now, the Owerri–Orlu Road was a death trap. But today, you can drive from Owerri to Orlu at night without even turning on your headlamps, with all the road furniture in place.
“The same transformation is happening on Owerri–Okigwe and Owerri–Umuahia roads. These are all the handiwork of Sen. Uzodimma,” he said.
The lawmaker praised the governor’s sustained commitment to development in spite of being in his second term.
“You can imagine a second term governor who is still awarding contracts for state’s development, something rarely seen in the country.
“Most second term governors, at this stage, no longer bother about the people. But he still prioritises the welfare of Imo people,” he added.
Dibiagwu listed some completed and ongoing projects in the state, including the Orashi Power Plant and several other key infrastructure developments.
“He has assured Imo people that in the next few months, there will be no more power outages in the state, thanks to the Orashi Power Plant, an independent, Imo State–owned power project.
“We now equally have one of the best international conference centres in the country. It was the venue where President Tinubu was hosted during his recent visit to Imo.
“There are so many developmental projects and because of these achievements, there is political peace among us, especially those of us based in Abuja.
“When a leader is doing the right thing, there is no reason to fight him,” he said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
