Former Governor of Plateau, Sen. Jonah Jang, has dismissed reports that he  asked Gov. Caleb Mutfwang to step down, following his defection from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jang dismissed the reports in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the former governor’s Media Aide, Mr Clinton Garuba.

The statement, which described the media reports as misleading and inaccurate, said that Jang’s remarks at a recent PDP stakeholders’ meeting in the state were taken out of context.

“The attention of Sen. Jonah Jang has been drawn to a misleading report in some print and online media outlets.

“The report attempts to portray him as calling on Gov. Caleb Mutfwang to resign, following his defection from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC).

“For clarity, Sen. Jang’s remarks were quoted out of context. At no time during the PDP stakeholders’ meeting did he call for Gov. Mutfwang’s resignation.

“Rather, he criticised politicians for leaving their parties to join others,” he said.

Jang, therefore, called on the people of the state to disregard the report and continue to support Mutfwang “who continues to lead the state under the people’s mandate.” (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
