The Ministry of Justice will ensure that retirement benefits and entitlements are processed with diligence, transparency, and respect for the rights of retirees says Solicitor-General of the Federation, Mrs Beatrice Jedi-Agba.
Jedi-Agba who doubles as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, gave the assurance at the send-forth ceremony held in honour of the 2025 retirees of the ministry on Wednesday in Abuja.
She said that those who laboured in service for the nation deserved to be appreciated, respected, and celebrated.
The permanent secretary said the ceremony reflected the ministry’s enduring commitment to recognising and honouring faithful service in line with the principles of good governance and humane administration.
“Your careers exemplified the core values of the public service which include discipline, integrity, loyalty, professionalism, and patriotism through policy formulation, programme implementation and institutional reforms, among others.
“We are here to acknowledge decades of selfless service, dedication, and commitment rendered by officers who devoted the best years of their lives to the service of the nation
“As we all know, retirement is not an end to someone’s career or profession, but a transition into a new phase of life.
“A phase that offers opportunities for rest, personal fulfilment and continued contribution to society in different capacities,’’ she said.
According to her, they may have formally exited active service but their experience, wisdom, and counsel remain invaluable to the public service and the nation at large.
“Our dear retirees, your services have written your names in the institutional history of this ministry and in the broader narrative of Nigeria’s public service.
“Your immense contributions to the nation will not be forgotten,” she added.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of gifts to the retirees in appreciation of their dedicated and selfless service to the nation. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
