The newly appointed Board Chairman of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Chief Tunde Afolabi, has assured customers of power stability and that all IBEDC offices will remain open while field operations will continue uninterrupted.
Afolabi stated this at the news conference held at the company’s corporate headquarters in Ibadan, as the company announced the reconstitution of its Board of Directors following the resignation of three nominees of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
He described the emergence of a new core investor and the reconstitution of the board as a significant milestone in the company’s corporate journey, signalling a renewed strategic direction anchored on stability, continuity and sustainable growth.
”This transition represents renewal, not structure. It represents investment not instability, it represents partnership not division.
”Together we will keep on operational excellence, strengthen financial sustainability and position Ibadan Disco in line with its vision in becoming the best, most commercially viable power distribution company in Nigeria.
”In future, Ibadan Disco is one of collaboration, accountability, innovation and growth. We move forward with unity, confidence and a sheer commitment to powering progress across our franchise.
”We understand that our customers primary concern is simple — ‘Will the lights stay on?’
“Our commitment is simple; our main operations wish to distribute power that we get from the generating company to our customers.
”We will continue to serve you better throughout this transition. We are, however, constrained by what we get from our suppliers,” he said.
IBEDC was established in November 2013 following Nigeria’s power sector privatisation, and licensed to distribute electricity across Ogun, Oyo, Osun, and Kwara States, as well as parts of Ekiti, Kogi and Niger States.
The company operates one of the largest distribution networks and serves the highest customer population within Nigeria’s electricity distribution sector.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that other members of the reconstituted board include Mr Ayodeji Gbeleyi (with Mr Michael Magaji as Alternate Director); Dr Taiwo Afolabi, Prof. Oladapo Afolabi, Mr Tunde Fayinka, Mr Oluwaseyi Akinwale, and Mr Adeolu Ijose. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
