A group, Team Rebuild Nigeria, has called on a technocrat, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, to contest the 2027 presidential election, citing his experience, integrity, and capacity to address Nigeriaโs pressing challenges.
The call followed Hayatu-Deenโs recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The group, through its convener, Dr Ebekuo Ebekuo, said at a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday that Hayatu-Deen possessed a singular agenda to fix Nigeria.
It emphasised that his track record and absence of corruption allegations were added advantages.
It noted that Hayatu-Deenโs academic background in economics, corporate strategy, governance, and global leadership equipped him with the expertise required to navigate complex national challenges.
The group highlighted his extensive experience in the private sector, spanning banking, manufacturing, aviation, cement, textiles, and hospitality, as well as leadership roles at institutions, such as the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
According to the group, the positions demonstrate his proven capacity to build, manage, and deliver results, reinforcing confidence in Hayatu-Deenโs ability to lead Nigeriaโs economic recovery.
It added that Hayatu-Deen had contributed at the national level, shaping economic policy and serving in key advisory roles when Nigeria required experienced strong leadership.
It noted insecurity, poverty, and economic decline, kidnapping, banditry, and inflation as indicators of the current national crises.
Team Rebuild Nigeria also cited statistics showing multidimensional poverty, millions of out-of-school children, and severe malnutrition, stressing the urgent need to reverse the troubling trends.
โWe are, therefore, calling for the most prepared aspirant, a detribalised, competent leader who can unify the opposition, command the confidence of citizens, and do the hard work of national recovery.
โWe call on Mohammed Hayatu-Deen to bring his extraordinary record of economic leadership and public service to the highest office in the land.
โWe pledge that if he answers this call, he will not stand alone,โ said the group via Ebekuo. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
