CTV marks 15th anniversary, records 300% viewership growth on GOtv

The Catholic Television of Nigeria (CTV) says its audience has risen more than 300 per cent daily, reaching about eight million viewers across Africa after joining GOtv Channel 115 one year ago platform.

Executive Director of CTV Very Rev. Fr Patrick Alumuku disclosed this in Abuja during a news conference marking the station’s 15th anniversary and first year on GOtv platform, on Monday.

Alumuku said the station was established in 2010 through vision of then Archbishop of Abuja John Cardinal Onaiyekan, maintaining commitment to professionalism, balanced reporting and religious spirituality in broadcasting service sector.

“On March 13, 2025 the station migrated from Trefoil NigComSat free-to-air platform to GOtv Channel 115, improving accessibility and affordability of Catholic content for average Nigerian audiences expansion across African region.”

Assistant Director Communications Rev. Fr Kenneth Agwu, described the 15-year journey as worthwhile and commendable in spite of high operational costs and challenges facing electronic media in Nigeria sector.

Deputy Director Administration Rev. Fr Victor Ogunyemi, said CTV engaged in balanced media apostolate addressing insecurity, family issues and other contemporary societal challenges affecting Nigeria today through responsible journalism practice consistently.

The Chairperson of National Planning Committee, Dr Princess Frank-Chukwuani, expressed optimism that the station would soon compete in national broadcasting, reaching broader audiences and playing greater media influence role across Nigeria media.

Publicity Sub-Committee Chairman Mr Henry Adaba, described CTV as a tool for mindset orientation promoting unity in an era marked by religious intolerance and social division challenges across Nigerian society.

Adaba said viewers tuning to Channel 115 experienced short programmes that helped reset mindset, encouraging families to watch regularly for unity spiritual growth and positive value formation in households.

Management announced that the 15th anniversary celebration and awards ceremony will hold on April 30, 2026 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Event Centre Maitama Abuja with stakeholders and partners invited officials.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
