Abuja Electricity Distribution (AEDC) has announced the resolution of the invasion and encroachment issues affecting the C2 Maitama substation, paving the way for repair works.
The Head, Brand Marketing and Corporate Communications of AEDC, Mr Omede Odekina, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.
Odekina said the development would enable the company to commence repairs and restore electricity supply to affected communities.
He said the breakthrough followed sustained engagements and the intervention of key stakeholders.
The AEDC spokesperson said the company’s technical team had been mobilised to the substation and commenced repairs on the damaged electricity infrastructure.
He assured customers in Maitama and neighbouring areas that efforts were ongoing to complete the repairs safely and restore power supply as soon as possible.
Odekina commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, for their intervention in resolving the matter.
“Their timely involvement was instrumental in achieving a positive outcome,” he said.
He also appreciated customers for their patience and understanding during the disruption.
Odekina reaffirmed AEDC’s commitment to protecting electricity infrastructure and providing safe, reliable and sustainable power supply.
