At 60, NOA hails Idris for honesty, boosting public trust

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has congratulated the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
In a congratulatory message, the Director-General of NOA, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, applauded the minister’s remarkable leadership in communicating government policies, programmes and activities.
Issa-Onilu acknowledged the minister’s firm commitment to promoting truthful, timely, and responsible communication, stressing that such an approach has played a critical role in countering misinformation and strengthening public trust in government institutions.
The congratulatory message was made available to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja, by Mr Paul Odenyi, the agency’s Deputy Director, Media and Communication.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Idris, Nigeria’s spokesman and a distinguished fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), clocked 60 on Saturday.
The NOA D-G commended Idris’s steadfast leadership and dedication to advancing Nigeria’s national reorientation agenda in line with the country’s broader development goals.
He described the minister as a focused and forward-looking leader whose dedication to public service has continued to strengthen the information and orientation sector.
According to him, Idris’ stewardship has provided the necessary direction for agencies under the ministry to engage citizens and promote national consciousness effectively.
Issa-Onilu observed that the minister’s consistent emphasis on national values, civic responsibility, and patriotism had helped reposition public discourse.
He added that the minister’s commitment to national values had encouraged Nigerians to adopt a stronger sense of belonging and responsibility towards the country’s growth and stability.
He said Idris’ leadership has brought renewed energy and purpose to the task of reconnecting citizens with the core ideals of unity, discipline, and collective responsibility, which remain essential for achieving sustainable national development.
Issa- Onilu stated that the agency has continued to draw strength from the minister’s leadership, which has enhanced its operational focus and enabled it to deepen its grassroots sensitisation efforts across diverse communities in the country.
He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting the minister’s vision by intensifying advocacy programmes aimed at promoting discipline, integrity, and active citizenship.
The D-G encouraged Nigerians to take ownership of national development efforts.
