Makkah, May 29, 2026 (NAN) Members of the National Assembly Joint Committee on Hajj on Thursday night inspected facilities and welfare services provided to Nigerian pilgrims in Mina.
This forms part of its oversight activities for the 2026 Hajj operations.
The delegation, led by Sen. Ali Ndume, included members of the Senate Sub-Committee on Hajj and the House of Representatives Sub- Committee on Hajj Affairs.
The delegation toured several accommodation tents housing Nigerian pilgrims to assess the quality of services coordinated and provided by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The tents included camp facilities of Kwara, Rivers, Ondo and Adamawa states .
The lawmakers sought feedback from pilgrims on accommodation, healthcare, feeding, transportation, welfare and other hospitality services.
Most of the pilgrims expressed satisfaction with the provision of the welfare services and commended NAHCON for improving the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.
Ndume said that the inspection was necessary to understand areas that required improvement.
He urged the pilgrims to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice as required by the pilgrimage itself, while requesting for minimal comfort.
“The idea of Hajj is sacrifice, and we should try to bear the harsh condition in the hope that the reward from Allah will be immeasurable,” he said.
He urged the pilgrims to intensely pray for the Nigerian government to be able to surmount the numerous social political and security challenges facing the country. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
