The Kaduna Medium Security Custodial Centre has commended Gov. Uba Sani for providing financial support to inmates recently granted state pardon.

The centre said the gesture would encourage the beneficiaries to become law abiding citizens and ease their reintegration into society.

Gov. Sani, had on June 12, granted clemency to 97 inmates to commemorate Democracy Day.

The governor also promised financial assistance to support their return to productive lives after regaining freedom.

On Friday, Kaduna State Government officials presented N100,000 to each of the freed inmates at the custodial centre.

Speaking at the event, Assistant Controller Dalhat Ibrahim described the governor’s intervention as timely and impactful.

Ibrahim, who heads the Kaduna Medium Security Custodial Centre, said the support would strengthen rehabilitation and reintegration efforts.

According to him, payment of inmates’ fines and the financial assistance will encourage beneficiaries to embrace lawful means of livelihood.

He advised the former inmates to use the money as start-up capital for businesses or other productive ventures.

Also speaking, the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Alhaji Mohammed Suleiman, said the visit fulfilled the governor’s June 12 promise.

Suleiman said each beneficiary received N100,000 to facilitate a smooth transition into society.

He urged the former inmates to remain law abiding and avoid activities that could return them to custody.

One of the beneficiaries, Chuks Solomon from Ebonyi State, thanked the governor for granting them freedom and financial support.

Solomon said the money would enable many beneficiaries to establish small businesses and rebuild their lives.

Another beneficiary, Abubakar Umar, described the day as memorable and expressed gratitude to the governor for facilitating their release.

He prayed for God’s blessings upon Gov. Sani, Kaduna State and Nigeria.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
