Some political leaders in Ebonyi have called on residents of the state to support the reelection bids of President Bola Tinubu and state governor, Francis Nwifuru.
They made the call at a press conference organised by the Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru (FON) Youth Movement on Monday in Abuja.
Sen. Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, who represents Ebonyi North Senatorial District, said the appeal is not based on sentiment, but rooted in performance, vision and proven capacity.
According to Nwaebonyi, the South-East has benefited substantially from the Tinubu led- administration, especially with the appointment of Dave Umahi as the Minister of Works.
“Under Tinubu’s bold and courageous leadership, Nigeria has begun the difficult but necessary journey of rebirth.
“He took the wheel of this great nation at a time of immense economic turbulence and steered us with uncommon resolve.
“Also, this is the first time since independence in 1960 that an indigene of Ebonyi is being entrusted with the minister of works.
“The minister’s performance has strengthened confidence in the Tinubu led-administration and has also positioned the APC for triumph in the next general elections,” he said.
He said that residents of the state were ready to cast their voters for this present administration, stating that the impact of the Tinubu led-administration is visible across the country, particularly the South-East.
“Before now, traveling from Enugu to Port Harcourt could take up to six hours on the road, but under the administration of Umahi, with support from Mr President, the road is being transformed.
“Nigerians have seen what Umahi accomplished and what he is doing today as the minister of works. Therefore, Ebonyi people are determined to cast our vote for the APC,” he said.
Dr Henry Nduka, Chairman of the Central Organising Committee representing Ebonyi, said the endorsement is by proven capacity of both leaders.
“This administration has aggressively pursued infrastructure development, from roads to bridges to rail modernisation and the power sector.
“Through the economic reform, the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of foreign exchange, Tinubu has laid the foundation for a long term economic growth.
“The president jas the courage to make tough decisions today for a prosperous tomorrow,” he said.
He said that Nwifuru had shown dedication to the welfare of Ebonyi people, carried himself with humility, and governed with patience, and listened with respect.
“The governor has, powerfully shaped our state. His ‘Peoples Charter of Needs’ agenda is delivering on education with massive investments.
“In healthcare, general hospitals have been revitalised with modern equipment, ambulances deployed, and welfare packages enhanced for workers.
“The Governor has given the people a leadership model defined by humility, vision and uncommon results.
“He has consistently placed the welfare of Ebonyi sons and daughters at the centre of his administration, creating opportunities for youths, supporting the women and building institutions that will outlast his tenure,” Nduka said. (NAN) (Www.nannews.ng)
