The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) says the Agricultural Mechanisation and Export of Quality Products in Africa (AGROMEQA) Expo 2026, will connect farmers, investors, researchers and technology providers for economic growth.
The President of the chamber, Chief Emeka Obegolu, made this known while briefing newsmen on the upcoming AGROMEQA Expo 2026, in Abuja on Tuesday.
Obegolu, who was represented by Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, the First Deputy President of the ACCI, said the expo would promote mechanisation, value addition and youth participation in agriculture.
He said agriculture remains central to Nigeria’s economic transformation but requires a shift from traditional production methods.
The ACCI president said that the expo scheduled to hold in Abuja between Oct. 15 and Oct. 16, has the theme “Technology and Investment for Agro-Export.”
He said that the sector needed greater adoption of mechanisation, innovation, technology, investment, research and stronger market linkages.
According to him, AGROMEQA Expo represents a collective effort to accelerate agricultural modernisation as a pathway to national prosperity.
“The initiative will promote mechanisation, value addition, technology transfer and investment across the agricultural value chain.
“Deeper mechanisation and strategic investments can unlock agriculture potential and create decent jobs for Nigerians.
“The measures will also strengthen rural economies, improve food security and increase value addition across the sector,’’ he said.
Obegolu also said that stronger agricultural production systems would enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness in regional and global export markets.
“The expo will bring together policymakers, agribusiness investors, machinery manufacturers and technology providers.
“Other participants are research institutions, farmers’ associations, development partners, financial institutions, agro-processors and exporters.
“International organisations and other stakeholders across the agricultural value chain are also expected to participate.
“The expo will feature exhibitions, showcasing mechanised equipment, precision farming tools, irrigation systems and climate-smart technologies.
“Agro-processing innovations and packaging solutions will also be displayed to promote local value addition,” he said.
According to him, the technical discussions and interactive workshops will provide opportunities for knowledge sharing and technology transfer.
“Business-to-business engagements and investment forums will help mobilise capital and establish strategic partnerships.
“The expo’s live demonstration arena will allow participants to see modern agricultural equipment and technologies in operation,’’ he said.
The ACCI president expressed confidence that the expo would catalyse investment inflows, strengthen business networks and stimulate strategic collaborations.
He said the expo would also contribute to building a modern, mechanised, innovative and globally competitive agricultural sector.
Obegolu called on ministries, departments and agencies, private-sector operators, development partners and farmers’ groups to participate actively. (NAN)
