The former National President of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Mr Daniel Kadzai, has called on Nigerian youths to support the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Kadzai made the call in Abuja while speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the 2026 National Christian Youth Security Summit and Thanksgiving Service.
The summit, themed “Empowered for Leadership, Service, and Nation Building,” was held at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.
The summit featured the signing of a peace accord between YOWICAN and the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO).
Kadzai cited the administration’s infrastructural development, youth-centric economic policies, and major investments in national security as key reasons for his endorsement.
He urged Christian and Muslim youths to actively safeguard the nation’s peace ahead of the upcoming general elections, emphasising that security remained a collective responsibility.
”What I would advise the youth to do differently to achieve good results is to work with relevant security agencies to ensure they do the needful at their level, because security is everybody’s business.
”When you see something, say something, and when you do something, something will happen,” Kadzai said.
He cautioned young people against concealing critical security information from law enforcement agencies and urged them to serve as ambassadors of peace and nation-building.
On the 2027 general elections, the former youth leader advised citizens to vote for leaders who prioritise national development and social welfare.
He highlighted federal interventions such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), social support packages for artisans, nationwide road infrastructure improvements, and the N5.4 trillion defence budget allocation as clear indicators of President Tinubu’s commitment.
”We drove into Abuja on very beautiful, well-lit roads, and everyone arrived safely from across Nigeria. It means the security of the nation is improving.
”The short-term pains of the fuel subsidy removal will soon yield long-term economic stability,” he said.
Kadzai commended the interfaith dialogue at the summit, stressing that sustained collaboration between Christian and Muslim youths remain essential for long-term national growth and stability.
During the event, YOWICAN officially unveiled its Five-Year Strategic Blueprint (2026–2031), presented by the National Assistant Secretary, Dr Joshua Dandaura.
Presenting the document, Dandaura noted that the blueprint provided a framework for unity, youth empowerment, leadership, and institutional growth.
”We have strategically identified gaps to build institutional capacity and expand nationwide training.
”To achieve institutional sustainability, we are also proposing a National Youth Development Centre on a three-hectare plot in Abuja, with a land acquisition budget of N900 million,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a major highlight of the summit was the conferment of the YOWICAN Peace Ambassador Award on Mr Seyi Tinubu, received on his behalf by the immediate past YOWICAN National Chairman, Belusochukwu Enwere.
Delivering the acceptance speech, Enwere noted that peace was more than the absence of conflict, as demonstrated by the peace pact.
”As young Nigerians, we have a critical role to play in building a nation where our differences in faith, ethnicity, and background become sources of strength rather than division.
”I urge all state chairmen and zonal coordinators to replicate this peace pact across all local government areas and wards in Nigeria,” Enwere quoted Tinubu as saying.
