Sen. Sunday Marshall Katung (APC/Kaduna South), has offered full scholarships to two First Class Law graduates of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

The scholarships cover their tuition for their Law School programme.

The beneficiaries, Shimanh Sabo from Kauru Local Government, and Rosemary Mamman from Sanga Local Government, all female, bagged the offers when Katung hosted them at the National Assembly, Abuja, on Friday.

A statement by Katung’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Mr Midat Joseph, quoted the Senator, who is also a lawyer, as congratulating the graduates on their academic achievements.

He described them as “a source of pride and worthy ambassadors of Southern Kaduna”.

He said the scholarship would cover their Law School fees in full, to ensure that financial constraints did not hinder their pursuit of legal education and eventual call to Bar.

Katung said the intervention was part of his sustained investment in education that included local and foreign scholarships, school infrastructure and support for indigent students across Kaduna South.

The senator said that girl-child education remained an important component of his human capital development agenda, noting the intellectual potential among young people, particularly women, in Southern Kaduna.

“Your First Class from ABU is not just your personal victory; it is our collective pride.

“You have shown that our daughters can compete and lead anywhere. My duty is to ensure that nothing stops you from being called to the Bar,” Katung declared.

He urged them to maintain their academic excellence and make Southern Kaduna proud during their Law School programme and beyond.

The beneficiaries, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN), expressed gratitude to the senator for the scholarship and his support for education, and promised to be worthy ambassadors of Kaduna South.(NAN)
