The Scout Association of Nigeria, Osun Council, says 500 youths will participate in its 2026 Camporee aimed at grooming them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
The State Scout Commissioner, Dr Sola Atanda, said this in a statement on Thursday in Osogbo.
Atanda, a Marathon ’63 Scouter, said the participants were drawn from across the country, particularly from the 30 Local Government Areas of Osun.
He said the programme, scheduled for Sept. 25 to 27 in Osogbo, was designed to enable participants to learn, grow, connect and build memories through the spirit of scouting.
According to him, youths deserve to be empowered in all areas of their lives to enable them to channel their God-given talents and energies towards productive purposes and contribute meaningfully to the overall development of the nation.
“The programme is not just another camping experience.
“It is an opportunity to challenge the youths to discover new strengths, serve others and grow into the leaders they are meant to become,” he said.
Atanda called on the state government to partner with and support the Scout Council in the state.
He urged the participants to live up to the principle of “Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Through Scouting.”
He charged those attending the event to be prepared and intentional, and to participate fully in all the scheduled activities.(NAN) www.nannews.ng
