OK Movement urges Obidient, NDC leaders to prioritise 2027 mobilisation

By Naomi Sharang

The OK Movement has urged leaders of Obidient Movement and Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) to prioritise grassroots mobilisation and organisational development ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Coordinator of OK Movement in United Kingdom, Mr Adebayo Brown, made the appeal in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.

Brown ‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌expressed concern over what he described as growing disagreements among political stakeholders.

According to him, those entrusted with leadership responsibilities should concentrate on building structures, coordinating supporters and mobilising Nigerians for the forthcoming elections.

He expressed the recent public exchanges involving the National Director-General of OK Movement, Mr John Ughulu, saying they were diverting attention from the broader task of political mobilisation.

Brown urged the coordinator of Obidient Movement to focus on rebuilding and strengthening the organisation, stressing that the responsibility required strategic planning and effective grassroots engagement.

He also questioned repeated claims that the NDC Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, and the Vice-Presidential candidate, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had dissociated themselves from OK Movement, saying such assertions should be supported by verifiable communication.

Brown stated that the Obidient Movement coordinator could not automatically speak on behalf of Obi or Kwankwaso without clear authorisation.

The UK-based coordinator, however, clarified that OK Movement had no intention of creating hostility with either the Obidient Movement or NDC.

According to him, the groups share common democratic interests and should concentrate on mobilising supporters and strengthening political structures ahead of the 2027 elections.

Brown commended Ughulu for his commitment to building OK Movement, saying that he had invested considerable time, resources and energy in advancing the organisation’s objectives.

He said the movement remained committed to justice, equity, fairness, credible elections and the promotion of democratic values, irrespective of disagreements among individuals.

Brown urged Ughulu and other stakeholders to remain focused on their responsibilities, adding that personal disagreements should not undermine collective efforts toward strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.(NAN)
