Remains of NAN staff Ukamole laid to rest at Eziama, Imo

The remains of late Elder Lawson Ukamole, a member of staff of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) have been laid to rest at his home town Umuchukwu Eziama, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo.
Ukamole a.k.a papa, worked in the Administrative Department of NAN in Abuja before his death on Jan. 20, after a brief illness.
In his sermon, Pastor Chiemere Benson of the Citadel of Christ International Ministry, Nsukka Enugu State, described death as an inevitable end and a call every mortal must answer.
Giving his sermon title as “Fight the good fight of Faith” and text from 2 Timothy 4: 1-10, Benson stressed the need for people to live a Godly and a righteous life to enter into the kingdom of God.
He encouraged believers to be serious with their Christian life, adding that when one lived a good Christian life he would receive a crown after death.
He admonished Christians to live a Christ- like life and a life worthy of emulation as after death judgement would follow.
“People are more Church-like than Christ-like. It is good for people to believe in and receive Christ as their Lord and saviour while alive and do good to their fellow men. After death all these will cease and then judgement.
“There is heaven and there is hell, and everyone will choose where to go while still alive,” Benson said.
The Managing Director, NAN, Mr Buki Ponle, represented by Mr Moses Uzoagba, a Deputy Director in the agency, described the death of Ukamole as shocking and painful.
Ponle said that Ukamole was a calm, dedicated, dutiful, loyal, respectful and faithful worker who took his work very serious in spite of his age, saying the agency would miss his services.
The managing director urged the family of the deceased and the NAN family to bear his loss with fortitude.
Miss Esther Ukamole, one of the children of the deceased, said that her father was an icon, who feared God and kept to his words.
She said that her father was an inspiration to the children, a disciplinarian and a Christian father, who never tolerated any form of misconduct among his children.
“Today the successes that the children are enjoying are as a result of the foundation he laid through the Christian virtues and scripture injunction,” she said.
Left to mourn late Ukamole are his wife Mrs Ugochi Ukamole, six children and grand children. (NAN)
