The FCT High Court, Life Camp, Abuja has adjourned the trial of a Nigerian rapper, Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as โOdumodublvckโ in a case of assault and battery, until Nov. 26.
The claimant, a Nigerian musician, Levi Ogbogiri, popularly known as โKraziecentโ instituted a suit against Odumodublvck for violently assaulting and battering him on Dec. 16, 2024 at a public event.
Justice J.O.E. Adeyemi-Ajayi fixed the date after the claimantโs counsel, Uchenna Ojembe, had told the court that the defendant had been served with all the necessary documents but had yet to reply.
โThe hearing may not commence today because the defendantโs counsel, Sheriff Bello had not responded, we, however, pray to the court for a date,โ Ojembe said.
Bello in his response, prayed the court to grant him date to put his house in order, saying that it will enable him prepare properly for the case.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Kraziecent, in a civil suit, alleged that while he was peacefully taking pictures and videos of himself at an event without provocation, Odumodublvck violently assaulted him on Dec. 16, 2024.
Kraziecent alleged that the defendantโs actions constituted assault, battery and international infliction of emotional distress on him and his property, specifically his iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The claimant, however, sought an order directing the defendant to pay his medical expenses incurred as result of the battery and emotional distress.
He also sought an order directing the defendant to pay for cost of his damaged iPhone 15 Pro Max, the public humiliation, reputational harm and issue a public apology to him.
The claimant sought an order directing the defendant to publish the said apology on his social media platforms including Facebook, X handle (Twitter), Instagram and on at least two national newspapers.
He further sought for an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendant, his agents, or representatives, from further harassing, intimidating or causing harm to the claimant. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
