Mr Christopher Maikalangu, the Executive Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), has approved the appointment of Mr Jafaru Gwagwa as the Council Secretary.
Mr Kingsley Madaki, Senior Special Assistant to the chairman on Media and Public Affairs disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.
Madaki added that Maikalangu also appointed other principal officers, supervisory councillors, and special advisers to drive the council’s governance machinery.
He said that Mr Emeka Orji was appointed as Chief of Staff, while Mr David Danjuma would serve as the Personal Private Secretary to the chairman.
He identified the newly appointed Supervisory Councillors as Mr Mukhtar Mohammed, Agriculture; Mr Obira Arinze, Education and Social Services; Mr Dantani Zadn, Works, and Mr Austin Oche, Special Duties.
Others are Mr Nuhu Usman as Supervisory Councillor for Health; Mr Musa Aliyu, Finance; and Mr Hashimu Saidu, Environment.
The senior special assistant further said that Maikalangu equally approved the appointment of seven Special Advisers to oversee key sectors of the municipal area.
He identified the appointees as Mr Musa Yakubu, Special Adviser on Job Creation; Mr Augustine John, Youth Empowerment; Mr Obasa Olukayode, Community and Social Development; and Mr Samuel Nada, Political Matters.
“Other advisers are Lovet Izakor, Women Affairs; Mr Amos Yohanna, Revenue; and Kelechi Chibueze, Chieftaincy and Traditional Matters,” he said.
Madaki said that the appointments were aimed at fulfilling the administration’s pledge to ensure all residents across the 12 political wards of AMAC benefit from Maikalangu governance.
He added that the executive chairman directed the principal officers to resume their respective duties at the AMAC Council Secretariat with immediate effect.
“Also, all newly appointed supervisory councillors and special advisers were strictly directed to report to the secretariat on Wednesday, by 9:00 a.m. for their official documentation and inauguration.
“While congratulating the appointees, Maikalangu charged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear on their new roles.
“He further urged them to prioritize excellent and transparent service delivery to the people of AMAC and shun all forms of selfishness and divisive bigotries,” Madaki said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
