The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) says it will host more than 2,000 participants at its 2026 Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programme in Yola.
Alhaji Usman Ahmed, Chairman of ANAN Adamawa Branch, disclosed this at a briefing on Tuesday in Yola.
He said the three-day programme would hold from Oct. 12 to Oct. 14, with the theme: “Climate Change and Sustainability Reporting.”
Ahmed said the theme had been divided into sub-themes to deepen participants’ knowledge and skills on emerging issues in accounting and sustainability reporting.
According to him, experienced scholars and renowned professionals would facilitate the various technical sessions.
“ANAN was established in 1979, incorporated in 1983 and chartered by Act 76 of 1993, now CAP A26 LFN 2004.
“The association’s mandate include; advancing the science of accountancy and setting standards for professional knowledge and skills,” the chairman said.
He said the Nigerian College of Accountancy served as the association’s training arm for graduate accountants seeking professional qualification.
According to him, the MCPD programme was designed to continually develop and update the knowledge of existing professional accountants on current issues and developments.
He said the event would feature courtesy visits, technical sessions, a gala night, syndicate discussions and induction of new members.
Ahmed said ANAN had engaged security agencies to ensure the safety and security of participants throughout the programme.
