The North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network says it will hold a mega political rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

This is to demonstrate the region’s collective support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, said this on Thursday in Abuja at a pre-rally meeting attended by political stakeholders from across the North Central region.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the rally is scheduled to hold on Saturday in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, with Gov. Abdullahi Sule as the host.

The rally will be headlined by Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, who is expected to join party leaders, supporters and grassroots mobilisers at the gathering.

Yilwatda said the meeting provided an opportunity for governors, ministers, legislators and other political stakeholders from the region to review preparations for the rally and agree on strategies for effective mobilisation.

He said the stakeholders had unanimously agreed to fully mobilise their respective political structures, supporters and grassroots organisations to ensure a successful turnout at the event.

The APC national chairman described the planned Lafia gathering as the mother of all rallies, stressing that it will showcase the collective political strength and commitment of the North Central region.

He said the central objective of the rally was to demonstrate the region’s support for the re-election of Tinubu and Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to him, the gathering will also provide an opportunity for party stakeholders to strengthen their coordination and deepen grassroots engagement across the six states of the North Central region and the Federal Capital Territory.

Yilwatda said the outcome of the meeting reflected a shared determination among the stakeholders to work together and coordinate their political activities in support of the Tinubu/Shettima ticket.

He said the stakeholders recognised the importance of grassroots mobilisation in consolidating the support base of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The national chairman said party leaders and political office holders had demonstrated their readiness to mobilise supporters from their respective constituencies for the Lafia rally.

He said that the mobilisation would involve women, youth groups, grassroots organisations, party members and other supporters across the North Central region.

Yilwatda acknowledged the leadership of Sen. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in bringing together political stakeholders from across the region to strengthen preparations for the rally.

He also commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for accepting to host the political gathering in Nasarawa State and for providing the necessary support towards its successful organisation.

The meeting also welcomed the participation of the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, as the headline guest at the rally.

The stakeholders said her participation would further enhance the significance of the gathering and provide an opportunity for women and other grassroots groups to demonstrate their support for the administration.

The participants reviewed arrangements for the participation of party leaders, women, youths, grassroots organisations and supporters expected to travel to Lafia from across the six North Central states and the FCT.

They also emphasised the need for effective coordination among the various political structures to ensure that the rally was conducted peacefully and successfully.

The stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the APC’s grassroots structures and mobilising citizens in support of the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous reaffirmation of the participants’ commitment to the successful hosting of the Lafia rally and their support for the re-election of Tinubu and Shettima.

Meanwhile, Yilwatda expressed condolences to the families of victims of the recent Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State.

He also commiserated with the families and communities affected by the recent mining-related tragedy in Niger State, describing the incidents as painful losses.

The meeting was attended by Akume, governors and deputy governors from the North Central region, ministers, members of the National Assembly and other political office holders who reaffirmed their commitment to the successful mobilisation for the Lafia rally.(NAN)
