Arewa Youth Assembly for Good Leadership (AYAGL) has withdrawn its earlier criticism of the leadership of the Nigerian Military Pensions Board (MPB), saying its position was based on “insufficient verification of facts”.

The group also expressed support for ongoing reforms under the leadership of AVM Mikail Abdulraheem, describing his administration as committed to transparency and improved welfare for retired military personnel.

This is contained in a statement by the President of AYAGL, Amb. Abdul Danbature,on Thursday in Abuja.

Danbature said the group arrived at the decision after extensive consultations, fact-finding engagements, and independent inquiries.

“We hereby formally withdraw our previous statements and offer our sincere apologies to the Nigerian public.

“AYAGL’s review of developments at the board revealed notable administrative improvements aimed at strengthening pension processes and enhancing the welfare of military retirees,” he said.

He added that the reforms at the board reflected clear leadership commitment to improving service delivery and restoring dignity to retired personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The AYAGL president clarified that the controversy surrounding a purported appointment involving retired AVM Abubakar Adamu, had created confusion in the public space and required official clarification.

He called on President Bola Tinubu to direct a thorough investigation into the alleged fake appointment claims with a view to protecting the integrity of public institutions and preventing misinformation.

“We respectfully call on relevant authorities to investigate the claims surrounding the alleged appointment, as well as any attempts to misrepresent official government decisions,” he said.

He also cautioned Northern youths against being used for political manipulation or misinformation aimed at undermining public institutions.

He reaffirmed the group’s support for the current leadership of the MPB and encouraged continued reforms in the system.

Danbature further said that the group remained committed to promoting accountability, peace, and constructive engagement in national affairs.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
