Japanese Singer BENI Captivates Chinese Audiences on Singer 2025

Japanese Singer BENI Captivates Chinese Audiences on Singer 2025

Changsha, China – Hunan TV’s Mango TV program Singer 2025 is redefining global cultural exchange, using music as a bridge across borders. The show has received back-to-back endorsements from UNESCO and has been highlighted in 15 social media posts by official organizations—including agencies under China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the embassies of Brazil and Malaysia in China, and Tourism Malaysia.

As of now, Singer 2025 has achieved more than 85 billion digital impressions. This year, UNESCO also featured Shan Yichun’s adaptation of the song “Li Bai” in its World Oceans Day campaign, calling for global attention to marine conservation. The show’s growing international attention highlights its extraordinary cultural influence, with diverse music, vibrant stagecraft, and heartfelt performances resonating with audiences worldwide.

One of the program’s defining strengths lies in its ability to inspire international artists to engage with Chinese culture on a deep level. American singer Mickey Guyton seamlessly wove Chinese lyrics into her performance, expressing her affection for the country. Fellow American Grace Kinstler delivered two moving performances entirely in Chinese, reflecting both the emotional appeal of Mandarin pop and her sincere appreciation for the culture.

Japanese singer BENI’s journey on Singer 2025 showcased the emotional reach of music beyond borders. In her debut appearance, she performed a tender version of “LA・LA・LA LOVE SONG,” her crystalline vocals and the retro arrangement evoking a neon-lit dreamscape. Though she was eliminated in the first round, BENI described the experience as deeply moving, praising the show’s professionalism and the audience’s warmth. “Singing for Chinese fans has always been a dream of mine,” she said after the show. “Joining Singer 2025 fulfilled that dream—and started a new one.” She added, with conviction, “I’ll be back!” Her words reflected not only a desire to return but also a tribute to music’s power to bridge continents and connect with hearts.

Offstage, other international performers—including American singers Charlie Puth and Jordan Smith, and Canadian singer Michael Bublé—immersed themselves in traditional Chinese culture. From practicing calligraphy and appreciating the ink paintings of master artist Qi Baishi to experiencing Dragon Boat Festival traditions, traditional Chinese medicine, historic academies’ vibes and regional cuisine, they gained firsthand insight into the richness of China’s cultural heritage.

Singer 2025 continues to connect the world through music, offering a stage for diverse voices to be heard and heartfelt stories to be shared. The show looks forward to welcoming more artists from around the globe to become part of a shared cultural dialogue.

Dazu Rock Carvings: The Last Monument of World Grotto Art

Baoding Mountain Rock Carvings
Baoding Mountain Rock Carvings

Located in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, the Dazu Rock Carvings have held UNESCO World Heritage status since 1999. Sprawled across 75 recognized cultural relics protection zones, the site shelters over 50,000 breathtaking statues. As one of the eight great grottoes of the world, Dazu Rock Carvings epitomize the pinnacle of world grotto art dating from the 9th to the mid-13th century from different aspects. Celebrated as “the last monument of world grotto art,” Dazu, together with Mogao, Yungang, Longmen and other grottoes, constitute the complete history of Chinese grotto art.

Recent initiatives have rejuvenated Dazu’s cultural presence. In an 8K dome theater, the Thousand‑Armed Guanyin’s benevolent gaze fills the screen, inviting viewers into a celestial embrace. The dance‑drama Tian Xia Dazu (For an Eternal Homeland — Dazu Rock Carvers’ Legacy) animates the carvers’ epic tale with immersive stagecraft. Even video games now feature Dazu’s statues, their contours and stories woven into virtual adventures. This thousand‑year‑old sanctuary is stepping firmly into the present.

The 8k full-dome film Dazu Rock Carvings awakens all 50,000 statues in layered streams of live footage and CG animation, transforming the physical space into a digital world. Reclined within the dome, audiences look up through a canopy of digital stars, accompanied by haunting Buddhist chants and soulful light interplay. Time‑weathered halos reform around sculpted robes — reborn in pixels yet rooted in antiquity.

In Black Myth: Wukong, the Monkey King cleaves through primordial chaos with his magical staff, the thousand-armed Guanyin of Dazu Rock Carvings smiles serenely amid dimensional rifts — holding a flower between her fingers. In the digital Buddhist world, gamers traverse a meticulously rendered Dazu, encountering Buddhist iconography amid mythic quests — an interactive bridge to Eastern philosophy. Meanwhile, CCTV’s China in Intangible Cultural Heritage devoted its Chongqing episode to Dazu, describing the site’s living legacy as “like stars falling all over mountains and rivers in Chongqing,” rekindling collective memory through the screen.

On stage, dancers echo the chiseling rhythms of bygone artisans. Silk‑flowing costumes swirl as performers burst from stone walls, transforming history into kinetic art. This isn’t a static reenactment — it’s a cultural translation, transmitting the carvers’ spirit through flesh, motion, and emotion.

The Dazu Rock Carvings are being revitalized through digital technology and cultural innovation. Digital projection breathes new life into carvings in the virtual spaces, enabling dialogues across time and space; Stage arts, meanwhile, imbue them with contemporary vitality. Technology extends their reach, while culture revitalizes their essence. Through this symbiosis, this millennium-old treasure resonates with the modern era, radiating timeless splendor.

Guangdong Governor Wang Weizhong Extends 2025 Spring Festival Greetings to the World

Guangdong Governor Wang Weizhong Extends 2025 Spring Festival Greetings to the World

(Guangzhou, China) – On January 28, 2025, the eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year, Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province, conveyed festive greetings on behalf of the Provincial People’s Government and its residents to overseas Chinese, compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, as well as friends around the globe.

In his Spring Festival message, Wang highlighted that in 2024, Guangdong Province’s GDP reached a remarkable milestone of 14 trillion yuan, maintaining its position as the national leader for 36 consecutive years. The province’s foreign trade imports and exports surpassed 9 trillion yuan, with Guangdong goods enjoying strong sales worldwide. Guangdong’s “High-Quality Development Project for Counties, Towns, and Villages” has invigorated its urban and rural development, fostering vibrant industrial clusters and accelerating the process of new urbanization.

Wang noted that in 2024, Guangdong made significant strides in deepening reforms and opening its doors to the world. The construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) celebrated its fifth anniversary, with a series of favorable policies introduced, including tiered management in Hengqin, expanded preferential tax policies in Qianhai, and relaxed market access in Nansha. Initiatives such as “Northbound Travel for Hong Kong/Macao Vehicles” and multiple-entry visas have spurred cross-border mobility, enhancing connectivity across the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, thereby facilitating a one-hour living circle in the GBA. Major events like the Canton Fair, China Airshow, and Global Investment Promotion Conference attracted thousands of businesses, leading to the establishment of numerous significant projects and headquarters in Guangdong, bringing the total number of business entities in the province to over 19 million, the highest in the country. Investors, both domestic and international, continue to express optimism about Guangdong and choose it as their investment destination.

In 2024, Guangdong promoted the mutual enhancement of industry and technology, accelerating the development of new productive forces. The region’s innovation capabilities have secured eight consecutive national championships. The “Meng Xiang” ocean drilling vessel was completed and put into operation, while “Made in Guangdong” rockets successfully launched into space. The concept of “flying to work” is transitioning from science fiction to reality, and Kirin high-end chips have achieved independent development and large-scale application. Guangdong has established a first-mover advantage in emerging sectors such as integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, low-altitude economy, and commercial aerospace. Concurrently, traditional industries are undergoing rapid renewal, resulting in a more robust manufacturing sector and a more competitive modern industrial system.

In 2024, Guangdong’s “doorstep” employment service initiatives enabled more residents to find jobs close to home. Diverse childcare institutions embraced the service philosophy of “trusted care, assured upbringing,” while new elderly care models ensured that more seniors could “age with support and joy.” Cultural landmarks, such as the Baietan GBA Art Center, have become popular destinations, and public engagement in greening initiatives has become a widespread practice, with air and water quality reaching their best levels.

Wang Weizhong emphasized that in 2025, Guangdong will make every effort to stimulate the economy, advance reforms, and promote development, aiming to achieve the goals of the “14th Five-Year Plan” with high quality. The province will further strengthen economic and cultural exchanges with countries around the world.

He also noted that in November 2025, the flame of the National Games will be lit simultaneously in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, marking the first comprehensive sports event jointly hosted by the three regions of the GBA. Wang looks forward to witnessing the vibrant display of “Passionate National Games, Vibrant Greater Bay Area” alongside friends from home and abroad.

2025 Ningbo Spring Festival Gala: Where International Flair Meets Cutting-Edge Technology

The fashion show Oriental Splendor
The fashion show Oriental Splendor

The 2025 Ningbo Spring Festival Gala, a spectacular event blending tradition and innovation, captivated audiences on the evening of January 23 at Studio One of the Ningbo Radio and Television Group.

Featuring a diverse array of original programs that celebrated Ningbo’s unique character, local traditions, and impressive development, the gala offered a cultural feast for Ningbo natives both at home and abroad. Highlights included the symphonic recitation “Seeing You Through Words,” the dazzling fashion show “Oriental Splendor,” and the specially designed performance “At the Heart of the Sea.”

Iconic Ningbo cultural elements, such as the historic Tianyi Pavilion, the ancient Hemudu Culture, the exquisite Yue Celadon, and the renowned Hongbang (red band) tailors, were featured. This year’s gala presented a reimagined version of the celadon music performance “Rhythm of Water,” while the male group dance “Moonlight Shines Over the Siming Mountain” drew inspiration from revered historical figures like Wang Anshi (1021-1086), Wang Yangming (1472-1529), and Huang Zongxi (1610-1695). The dancers, portraying “scholars” in flowing, wide-sleeved robes, moved with grace and precision, embodying both youthful vigor and a deep-seated patriotic commitment to serving the nation.

The 2025 gala also seamlessly integrated cutting-edge digital stage technology with live performance. The female group dance “Like a Lotus” employed a combination of immersive surround-screen digital displays, a dynamic mechanical stage, wirework, and virtual technology to create captivating effects, showing delicate “lotus flowers” emerging from the water with roots, stems, and tendrils. The innovative human-machine performance “AI on the Spring Festival Gala” showcased multiple robots and robotic dogs, which, after sophisticated programming, took to the stage, performing fluid dance moves and successfully interacting with the audience through heart gestures.

Reflecting Ningbo’s status as a vibrant international coastal city, numerous foreign residents and international students who live and work there participated in the gala. Some of them donned traditional opera costumes, joining over 20 young local performers dressed as Mu Guiying, a legendary ancient Chinese heroine, in a captivating Chinese opera showcase. Notably, Sime Nkemeni Darrin from Cameroon portrayed the upright official Baogong in Henan Opera; Haines Phoebe Georgina from the UK embodied the iconic imperial concubine Yang Yuhuan, singing a section from the Peking Opera’s “Ode to Pear Blossom”; and Nweke Chioma Precious from Nigeria delivered a performance from the Huangmei Opera “Emperor’s Female Son-in-Law.” These performances highlighted the allure of traditional Chinese culture.

Further enriching the event’s global tapestry, musicians from Austria presented a unique performance, skillfully blending Western string instruments with the exquisite poetry of China. Composed by local artist Robert, the piece drew its inspiration from “Zi Jin,” a poem from the Book of Songs, creating a harmonious fusion of cultures.

Friends from Cameroon and Nigeria perform traditional Chinese opera.

Adding a human dimension, the gala’s special program, “At the Heart of the Sea,” brought frontline workers involved in the construction of the Hangzhou Bay Railway Bridge to the stage. This remarkable feat of engineering, a key component of the Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway and set to be the world’s longest cross-sea railway bridge upon completion, exemplifies the pioneering and innovative spirit of Ningbo people.

This year marked the third consecutive year that Ningbo has hosted its own Spring Festival Gala. Over the past three years, this pre-Chinese New Year tradition has proven invaluable in showcasing Ningbo’s rich cultural heritage, summarizing the year’s key cultural highlights, bringing people together from all walks of life, and inspiring a shared sense of enthusiasm and energy throughout the community.
