China on Saturday urged Eswatini and other countries of the world to respect and recognise its One-China principle, as well as desist from giving credence to the illusion of “Taiwan independence.”

A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson made the remarks after Lai Ching-te, leader of China’s Taiwan region, traveled to Eswatini on Saturday, where he was inappropriately addressed as “President” instead of “Leader.”

The Chinese Government, therefore, urged Eswatini and world leaders to “see where the arc of history bends and stop serving as the prop of Taiwan independence separatists.”

“Just hours within the Yilan earthquake, Lai Ching-te ditched the people of Taiwan, who were still reeling from the disaster, and sneaked onto a foreign plane, the private jet of the King of Eswatini, to ‘smuggle’ himself out of the island.

“He was squandering taxpayers’ money and performing a laughable stunt in front of the world, which just added yet another episode to the scandalous “Taiwan independence” separatism.

“The indignified act of Lai Ching-te and his like once again proved the scandalous claim of “Taiwan independence,” the spokesman said.

He stressed that the “One-China” principle has long been the basic norm in China’s international relations and prevailing international consensus.

“No matter how the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities collude with external forces and keep those people in DPP’s pay, it will always be a losing cause.

“Nothing will ever change the fact that Taiwan is part of China,” he emphasised.

According to the ministry’s spokesman, no matter how “Taiwan independence” forces try to cover up their nature or change appearance, “nothing can save their reputation.”

He added that nothing would help them to escape the denunciation of the international community regarding the false claim of “Taiwan independence.”(Xinhua/NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
