Three persons: Samuel Apkasubu, 32; Adeshina Ogunbayo, 43; and Adebola Adeosun, 33, were on Wednesday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for falsifying figures and stealing fish worth N15.4 million.

The defendants are facing trial on four counts of falsifying figures, conspiracy, forgery and fraudulent conversion.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Kehinde Olatunde, had told the court that the trio committed the offences on or before May 2020 at Pescado Global Services located at No. 22, Itire Road, Mushin.

“The defendants had falsified and altered figures in the account log book of the company that deals in selling various varieties of frozen fish. They had also raised false documents to cover up their deeds,” Olatunde alleged.

He said that the employees were able to convert N15.4 million of the company’s proceeds into their own personal use through the falsified documents.

Olatunde said that the offences contravened Sections 287, 337, 365 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.A. Oshoniyi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

She added that the sureties must provide proofs of identification and gainful employment.

She adjourned the case until March 29 for mention. (NAN)
