The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) has confirmed Mr Ademola Adesokan as the substantive President of the National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN).
The confirmation was conveyed in a letter signed by the Director, Commodities and Export Department, Mr Obasi Edmund, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of the ministry.
According to the letter addressed to the Chairman, Board of Trustees of NCAN, the ministry approved the recognition of Adesokan’s election as the substantive president of the association.
The ministry said the approval followed a consent judgment delivered on Nov. 9, 2019, in Suit No. FCT/HC/CV/439/2016, which affirmed the NCAN Constitution of 2007, under which the current leadership was elected.
It stated that Adesokan’s tenure took effect from Jan. 20 and would expire on Jan. 19, 2029, after an initial three-year term.
The ministry urged the association’s Board of Trustees and members to accord him the necessary recognition and support in the discharge of his responsibilities.
“You are therefore requested to give him adequate recognition and support in the discharge of this new responsibility,” the letter stated.
Copies of the letter were also sent to the National President of the Federation of Agricultural Commodity Associations of Nigeria (FACAN) and Adesokan. (NAN)
