The Nathaniel Idowu Foundation says it will host the maiden edition of its four-week Summer Camp at the rejuvenated Maracana Sports Complex in Ajegunle, Lagos, in August.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos by the foundation’s media department, the four-week camp would hold between Aug.3 and Aug. 28.
According to the foundation , the four-week camp is a youth development initiative designed to inspire, educate and empower children through sports and other life-enriching activities during the long school holiday.
It said the programme is open to boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 16, providing them with an opportunity to develop their sporting talents while learning important life skills in a safe and supportive environment.
The foundation said that participants would receive professional coaching in football, basketball and athletics from experienced coaches and instructors.
It said that the camp would also feature teamwork exercises, fun games, leadership development sessions and character-building activities aimed at helping the children become confident, disciplined and responsible members of society.
It said the activities would be conducted in a safe, structured and friendly environment under the supervision of qualified coaches and facilitators to ensure the well-being and development of every participant.
The foundation reaffirmed its commitment to using sports as a tool for positive social change and youth empowerment.
“The Summer Camp is more than just a holiday programme. It is an opportunity to nurture young talents, build confidence, encourage healthy living, promote discipline and create lasting friendships among children from diverse backgrounds.
“It also underscores the importance of inclusion through our ‘Let Her Play’ initiative, which is aimed at ensuring that girls are encouraged and given equal opportunities to participate, compete and develop their sporting abilities alongside boys.”
The foundation urged parents and guardians to take advantage of the opportunity by enrolling their children.
It noted that the camp would keep them actively engaged in meaningful and productive activities throughout the holiday period while exposing them to positive values and healthy lifestyles.
It reiterated its commitment to transforming lives through education, health and sports, adding that it would continue to invest in programmes that supported the development of the next generation of leaders and athletes in Nigeria.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
