The Chris Igbokwe Foundation has called on the Federal Government and well-meaning Nigerians to support the foundation to enable it sustain and expand its humanitarian activities across the country.

The President and Founder of the foundation, Mr Chris Igbokwe, made the call at a news conference organised by the Chris Igbokwe Foundation in Abuja on Sunday.

Igbokwe stressed the need for greater collaboration between government, private organisations and individuals in addressing the challenges confronting vulnerable Nigerians.

He said government needed to do more to support humanitarian causes as part of efforts to foster sustainable development and improve the living conditions of less privileged persons across the country.

According to him, addressing the root causes of poverty, hunger and other social challenges remains critical to tackling insecurity and promoting peace and stability in Nigeria.

“The only way to curb insecurity and hunger in the land is by addressing the root cause of the matter,” he said.

Igbokwe said providing assistance to vulnerable people was a collective responsibility that required the contribution of all stakeholders.

He explained that the Chris Igbokwe Foundation had been in existence for more than five years, providing assistance to less privileged people across the North and South through scholarships, clothing, foodstuffs and other forms of support.

He added that the foundation had also embarked on community development initiatives, including providing electricity and other relevant amenities to communities, using mainly personal resources to fund its activities.

The founder said the foundation was growing bigger by the day, thereby increasing its responsibilities and the number of people requiring assistance, hence the urgent need for support from government and well-meaning Nigerians.

“The bigger the foundation, the more responsibilities at hand,” adding that increased support would enable the organisation to reach more vulnerable Nigerians and contribute more effectively to reducing hunger, poverty and insecurity in the country.(NAN) www.nannews.ng
