The Kwara Government, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has trained 20 resource persons from MDAs on Result-based Management Reporting and Data Collation.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the programme is a 4-day capacity building workshop on result-based management and reporting.
Dr Mary Arinde, the Kwara Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, stated that the programme is designed to equip programme desk officers, monitoring and evaluation officers with the knowledge on data collation.
She explained that stakeholders would also be equipped with practical tools required to effectively plan, implement, monitor, evaluate, and report development programmes in line with global best practices.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the government to promoting accountability, transparency and effective service delivery through continuous capacity development of public officers.
Arinde described the training as a strategic investment aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing programme implementation across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.
According to her, result-based management has become an essential framework for ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, accountability, and measurable outcomes in governance, especially at a time when citizens increasingly demand transparency and value for public resources.
The commissioner emphasised that reliable data management and effective monitoring mechanisms are fundamental to evidence-based planning and informed decision making.
“Accurate and timely data remain critical for the formulation of sound policies, efficient resource allocation and successful implementation of government programmes,” she said.
Arinde expressed appreciation to the UNFPA for its continued partnership and unwavering support toward the realisation of the state government’s development objectives.
She described the collaboration as a testament to the shared commitment of both organisations to strengthening governance, building human capacity and advancing sustainable development in Kwara state.
In her remarks, the Sexual Reproductive Health Specialist, UNFPA, Mrs Gloria Enueze, commended the Kwara government for strengthening the partnership between the state and her organisation.
Enueze expressed appreciation for the state government’s commitment to capacity development and institutional strengthening.
She observed that such initiatives are crucial to achieving sustainable development goals and improving governance outcomes.
The UNFPA representative assured that the organisation would continue to support and collaborate in areas that will enhance development planning, monitoring, evaluation and overall programme effectiveness.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
