Some vulnerable families in Lugbe, Federal Capital territory (FCT) hived signs of relief as the Seed of Testimony Foundation, an NGO, paid tuition fees for 10 of their wards.
The intervention aimed to cushion severe financial strain on struggling parents and to ensure vulnerable children remained in classrooms without interruption following the resumption of the new academic term.
Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, STF Founder, Mrs Joy Inimgba said the gesture was to address the current economic challenges some families are facing.
She noted that many households struggle to meet back-to-school obligations as well as other domestic needs due to economic difficulties.
”I can imagine what parents are going through, especially when children resume school and families must meet the obligations as well as other needs. In my little way, I want to lessen that burden,” Inimgba said.
She disclosed that the foundation’s operations are self-funded from personal resources, adding that assisting the underprivileged has become part of her routine.
However, Inimgba noted that individual efforts alone cannot bridge the gap, calling on other privileged Nigerians and corporate organisations to help lessen the socio-economic challenges facing the less privileged in the society.
She appealed to corporate entities and public-spirited organisations to partner with the foundation to expand its reach.
”Without partners, it is difficult to help as many people as we desire. I hope strategic partnerships provide sustained educational opportunities for more children,” she added.
The founder further reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to continuing practical humanitarian interventions by uplifting the less privileged members of society.
ThankGod Sunday, a pupil who missed an entire academic year due to non-payment of fees, described the founder as a ‘God sent.’
Another beneficiary, Abigail Kamaru, expressed appreciation for the help extended to them and prayed God to reward.
She called on the government and wealthy individuals to replicate such interventions for struggling families.(NAN)(www.nanews.ng)
