Nigeria has stepped up technical cooperation with Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, and Barbados as part of efforts to deepen South-South ties among Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.

The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) said its Director-General, Yusuf Yakub, made the push during a working visit to the three countries on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.

Yakub held talks with officials in Trinidad and Tobago, including Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Minister Sean Sobers, focusing on expanding capacity building and deployment of Nigerian professionals under the Technical Aid Corps scheme.

He said Nigeria was ready to scale up technical assistance in line with Tinubu’s push for stronger development partnerships across the Global South.

In Grenada, Yakub met Foreign Minister Joseph Andall and health officials, with discussions centred on healthcare cooperation, training and technical support.

Barbados talks focused on education, with Minister of Educational Transformation Sandra Husbands highlighting the role of international partnerships in driving innovation and human capital development.

Officials in Barbados also signalled interest in expanding cooperation to sectors such as culture, film, fashion and agriculture.

NTAC said the engagements underscored Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and promoting sustainable development through technical cooperation. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
