The National Pension Commission (PenCom) has unveiled PenCom Chronicles, a corporate magazine aimed at documenting Nigeria’s pension industry and improving public understanding.

Ms Omolola Oloworaran, PenCom’s Director-General, said the magazine would provide a platform for communicating the commission’s activities, reforms and industry developments.

Oloworaran made this known at the launch of the magazine in Lagos on Tuesday.

She said the initiative would help address gaps in public understanding of developments and activities within the pension sector.

According to her, PenCom Chronicles would serve as the commission’s flagship corporate publication, documenting its initiatives and contributions to industry development.

She described the inaugural edition as a new chapter in PenCom’s corporate communication and institutional storytelling.

“This inaugural edition represents not merely the launch of the magazine, but the beginning of a platform through which PenCom will tell its story.

“It will document its journey and contribute to broader conversations on pension in Nigeria,” she said.

Oloworaran said the publication would provide readers with comprehensive accounts of developments in the pension industry.

She said it would also establish the editorial and digital direction for subsequent editions of the magazine.

According to her, PenCom Chronicles would feature news, interviews, industry updates, human-interest stories, features and commentaries.

“The publication is structured into two editorial sections, offering different perspectives on developments within the pension industry,” she said.

The Director-General said each edition would document significant industry developments and provide stakeholders with a platform to express their views.

She added that the publication would help Nigerians better understand the pension system and chronicle its evolution.

Oloworaran expressed optimism that the magazine would become an important information source for stakeholders and the wider public.

Earlier, the director-general recognised journalists who had distinguished themselves in projecting developments in Nigeria’s pension industry.

Mr Chuks Udo-Okonta received the 2026 PenCom Media Excellence Award for Outstanding Pension Journalist in the online category.

Modestus Anaesoronye of BusinessDay won the print category, while Ini John-Mekwa of Channels Television emerged winner in the television category.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
