The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG & EV), the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the Abia State Government have committed to deepening collaboration on clean energy.
The commitment was made during a working visit organised by the Chief Executive Officer of MOFI, Dr Armstrong Takang, who led the delegation received by the Abia Gov. Dr Alex Otti.
As part of the visit, the delegation witnessed in the inauguration of 20 additional electric buses by Abia government.
This, marks another milestone in Nigeria’s transition to cleaner, more sustainable public transportation and reinforcing the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding clean mobility solutions across the country.
The development will spur sustainable transportation and infrastructure development to accelerate economic growth and improve the quality of life of Nigerians.
Mr Ismaeel Ahmed, Executive Chairman, Pi-CNG, in a statement on Friday emphasised that energy, agriculture and transportation were interconnected sectors that must be developed in an integrated manner to unlock sustainable economic growth.
Ahmed said transportation fundamentally served as an enabler of economic activity by facilitating the movement of people and goods, creating jobs, generating wealth and improving livelihoods.
He reaffirmed Pi-CNG & EVs commitment to partnering with the Abia Government to expand the adoption of CNG as a cleaner and more affordable transportation fuel.
He said the initiative would continue to work with the state to develop the clean mobility ecosystem through strategic partnerships, infrastructure development and stakeholders engagement aimed at reducing transportation costs.
In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer, MOFI, Dr Takang, said that national development must extend beyond Abuja to deliver meaningful impact to communities across the country.
He described energy, agriculture and transportation as three critical sectors at the heart of the Federal Government’s development agenda under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
According to him, when effectively integrated, they will become powerful drivers of economic growth, job creation and improved livelihoods.
He called for closer partnerships between Pi-CNG & EV, REA and the Abia State Government to ensure that ongoing Federal Government interventions translate into tangible benefits for the people of Abia and the South-East.
The Managing Director, REA, Abba Aliyu, also participated in the discussions, which focused on strengthening collaboration to expand access to reliable energy, support sustainable infrastructure and improve development outcomes across Abia.
Otti, while welcoming the delegation, expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the commitment of the Abia State Government to working with Pi-CNG & EV, MOFI and REA.
This, he said would expand access to clean energy solutions, improve transportation infrastructure and attract investments that will drive sustainable economic development in the state.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
