Attack

By Deborah Akpede

The Police Command in Lagos State has assured residents there is no threat to peace and security across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, gave the assurance in a statement by the Command spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi.

Tijani said reports circulating on social media alleging cult-related attacks in some Lagos communities, including Shitta, Akerele, Itire/Aguda and Ishaga, were false and misleading.

He confirmed the police had deployed proactive measures to prevent any breakdown of law and order in affected and surrounding areas.

“Following the initial report, prompt deployment of police personnel and operational assets have been sent to mentioned locations and adjoining communities,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the CP has ordered intensified patrols and strategic positioning of officers across identified flashpoints.

Tijani said all mentioned areas remained well secured, with adequate security coverage to deter unlawful gatherings or activities.

He urged residents to remain calm, stressing there was no cause for alarm and encouraging normal daily activities.

The CP advised the public to disregard unverified rumours capable of causing panic and to rely only on official police information.

Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements to nearby police stations or emergency lines.

Tijani reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring sustained efforts to maintain peace and order across Lagos State. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
