Malam Raheem Abdulbaki, General Manager, Kwara Public Procurement Agency (KWPPA), has described public procurement as a critical component of governance and administration requiring accountability, transparency and providing value for expenses.
Abdulbaki said this at a one-day training for management and staff members of the Kwara State University of Education (KWASUED) on public procurement processes, rules, regulations and procedures, in Ilorin.
He said that the training was designed to enhance participants’ understanding of procurement planning, budgeting, tendering procedures, bid evaluation, contract management, and compliance with the state public procurement law and guidelines.
The general manager urged officers involved in procurement-related activities to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
Abdulbaki commended the university management for providing a platform to strengthen procurement knowledge and promote best practices within the institution.
He said that continuous capacity building remained essential for effective service delivery and institutional growth.
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of KWASUED, Prof. Medinat Salman, commended KWPPA for its continued support and collaboration with the university.
Salman expressed optimism that the training would further strengthen compliance with procurement procedures and promote adherence to best practices in the institution.
