Prof. Samuel Oladipo, the Vice Chancellor, Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED), has unveiled a strategic plan aimed at positioning the institution among Nigeria’s top 25 universities and the top 3,000 globally by 2031.
Oladipo made this known on Tuesday in Ijebu Ode during his investiture as the sixth vice chancellor of the university.
He pledged to build on the institution’s legacy of excellence and commitment to educational development.
He paid tribute to late educationist, Dr Tai Solarin, describing him as a visionary leader whose values of integrity, resilience and service continue to inspire the university community.
The vice chancellor said the institution, established in 2005 and converted to a federal university in 2025, had demonstrated resilience and remained focused on attaining greater national and international recognition.
Oladipo said his administration would be guided by the S.T.A.R.W.I.N. framework, which focused on sustainable funding, technology, academic excellence, research productivity, staff and student welfare, infrastructure development, and international relations.
According to him, the university will pursue innovative revenue sources, strengthen professional programmes and deepen international collaborations to ensure financial sustainability and institutional growth.
Oladipo also pledged to drive digital transformation through improved campus connectivity, smart classrooms and capacity building for staff and students to enhance teaching, learning and administration.
He said curriculum reviews, international accreditation and a robust research ecosystem would be prioritised to boost academic quality, innovation and the university’s global visibility.
The vice chancellor assured staff and students of improved welfare through better infrastructure, housing, transportation and wellness programmes to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
He added that his administration would embark on infrastructural development, including modern facilities and laboratories, while ensuring accessibility and a conducive atmosphere for excellence.
Oladipo further promised to strengthen town-gown relations, expand partnerships with industry and foreign institutions, and increase the university’s participation in global academic and research networks.
He called on staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders to support the administration’s vision, saying collective commitment and accountability were essential to unlocking the university’s full potential.
The vice chancellor expressed optimism that, with dedication and shared responsibility, TASFUED would emerge as a leading institution for teacher education and societal development in Nigeria and beyond.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Rahamon Bello, urged the new vice chancellor to deepen academic excellence.
He described Oladipo’s appointment as the outcome of a transparent, rigorous and merit-based process anchored on fairness, excellence and institutional integrity.
He appreciated the Federal Government for retaining the council after the takeover, describing the decision as crucial for institutional stability and continuity.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
