The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has called for peace and stability to drive industrialisation and trade for national productivity.
Chief Emeka Obegolu, President of the ACCI made the call in his message to celebrate Nigerian workers on International Workers’ Day 2026.
The theme of the 2026 May Day is “Ensuring a Healthy Psychosocial Working Environment”.
Obegolu said that workers’ resilience dedication sustain businesses, boost productivity and support national development in spite economic challenges.
Accoding to him, peace and stability remain essential for economic recovery, industrial expansion and job creation across sectors.
“Nigerian workers across formal and informal sectors contribute significantly to industrialisation, trade and inclusive economic growth,” he said.
Be commended Nigerian workers for commitment, describing them as the backbone of national progress and societal stability.
He said achieving this year’s theme required stronger labour relations, inclusive policies, fair wages, safe conditions and growth opportunities
“Productivity thrives where workers are treated with dignity, fairness and respect. Policies that promote decent work should be effectively implemented,” he said.
Obegolu called on government at all levels to prioritise pro-worker and pro-growth policies, including minimum wage review and a stable business environment.
He also commended ACCI members and staff for their contributions to the chamber’s growth and national development
“We reaffirm commitment to partnerships and policies that promote economic resilience, industrial growth and improved workers’ welfare,” he added. (NAN)
