An Islamic cleric, Imam Abdullahi Abdul, has urged Nigerians to reconnect to Allah and look up to Him for solutions to the socioeconomic challenges bedevilling the country.
Abdul made the call at the 17th Annual Ramadan lecture/iftar (Breaking of Fasting) organised by the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA), Abuja Chapter, on Wednesday in Abuja.
He noted that the greatest rewards come with the greatest calamities, adding that ” when Allah loves the people, He tests them with calamities.
” Therefore, it is unpatriotic for any Nigerian to lose hope in the country.
” Whatever challenges we face as a country, if we obey Allah and abide by his instructions, He will definitely provide a way out for us. If we turn back to Allah, He will solve our problems.”
He implored all Nigerians to stop complaining and look up to Allah as well as seek forgiveness from Allah.
” Whenever you seek forgiveness from Allah, He will open doors of mercy for you. When we turn back to Allah, our situation will be better.”
In her goodwill message, Abike Dabiri Erewa, the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), said the theme of the lecture was very topical and timely.
” The lecture is about faith, patience that when Almighty Allah tests you, you should be patient because is testing you for a purpose.
” So, it is about passing that test, having test in the Almighty Allah and being patient enough to pass through that test and is a lesson for each and everyone of us.”
She advised those in position of authorities to discharge their responsibilities diligently, saying ” don’t fail in that responsibilities.” (NAN)
