Mr Dasuki Arabi, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), says digital public infrastructure, interoperability and emerging technologies will strengthen government institutions and improve service delivery to citizens.
Arabi said this in a statement he signed on the fourth Nigeria GovTech conference and awards, scheduled for Oct. 13 and 14 in Abuja.
He said the conference would examine how digital transformation could promote more efficient, inclusive and responsive governance, while improving access to government services.
According to him, the discussions will focus on the application of digital public infrastructure, interoperability, emerging technologies and innovation to strengthen government institutions and improve public service delivery.
Arabi said the conference would also examine how digital transformation could support financial inclusion and contribute to the expansion of Nigeria’s digital economy.
The conference is organised by BPSR in collaboration with the Office of the Technical Adviser to the President on Economic and Financial Inclusion.
It will have its theme as “Advancing Digital Government: Scaling Digital Public Infrastructure for Effective Governance and Service Delivery.”
As part of the conference, six state governors will be honoured at the 2026 Nigeria GovTech Public Service Awards for their contributions to digital government, innovation and technology-enabled public service delivery.
The governors include Mr Dikko Radda of Katsina, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Peter Mbah of Enugu, Charles Soludo of Anambra and Hyacinth Alia of Benue states.
Arabi said the governors were selected following a comparative assessment of digital government performance across the states.
He said the assessment considered progress in digital service delivery, institutional readiness, digital infrastructure, transparency and open governance, as well as innovation and partnerships.
The BPSR DG said the awards were designed to recognise public servants and organisations that had demonstrated practical use of technology to drive institutional reforms and improve service delivery.
He added that the awards would also recognise outstanding federal and state institutions, other public institutions and private organisations for achievements in digital innovation and technology-enabled public service delivery.
Arabi said the conference would bring together senior government officials, technology executives, development partners and private-sector stakeholders to discuss practical approaches to advancing digital government in Nigeria.(NAN)
