The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State chapter, has emphasised the need for more youth participation in governance.
Its Public Relations Officer, Mr Victor Adogbajale, said this on Wednesday at a news conference on the associationโs forthcoming youth and governance symposium.
He said that the symposium aims to provide a platform for discussions on socio-political issues affecting youths in Lagos State.
He added that the event would help in bridging the gap between the youth and government officials.
โWe are excited to host this symposium, which will bring together youths, government officials, and political analysts to discuss issues affecting our state.
โIt will feature a special guest, Mr Seyi Tinubu, who will share his insights on youth development and governance.
โTheir experience and expertise will be invaluable to our discussions,โ he said.
According to him, youths are the future leaders of the country, and it is essential to engage them in nation-building.
Adogbajale said that the symposium would also focus on issues such as education, healthcare and employment, which are critical to the development of youths in the state.
โWe want to create a platform where youths can express their opinions and contribute to the decision-making process in our state.
โWe want to ensure that our state is developed in a sustainable way, so that future generations can benefit from our efforts,โ he said.
According to him, the symposium which will hold on April 12, is part of the associationโs efforts to empower young people and promote good governance in Lagos State.
He urged youths in the state to attend the symposium and make their voices heard.
โWe want to see a large turnout of youths at the symposium.
โThis is an opportunity for them to engage with government officials and political leaders, and to contribute to the development of our state,โ Adogbajale said.
