The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has congratulated a fellow of the society, Elozino Olaniyan, on her appointment as first female Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern Oil and Gas.
In a congratulatory letter, NSE President, Mrs Margaret Oguntala, said that the appointment which takes effect from Dec. 1, marks a significant achievement for the energy sector.
She said that Olaniyan had become the first woman to lead the company in its 26 years history.
Oguntala commended Olaniyan for her remarkable contributions to the energy sector and praised her role in opening doors for women in leadership positions within the oil and gas sector.
The NSE President described the success as being that of women in engineering and leadership, especially the oil and gas sector, where women had historically been under-represented.
“Engr. Olaniyan’s appointment is a powerful testament to her excellence and determination.
“It breaks down barriers for women in leadership, especially in industries like energy, where there is still a gender gap.
“Her leadership will inspire future generation of engineers, particularly young women, to aim high and pursue careers in fields where they are underrepresented,” she said.
She said that NSE will continue to advocate for the empowerment and advancement of women in engineering and leadership roles across all sectors. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
