The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) on Tuesday pledged support to the Association of Corporate Communication and Marketing Professionals in Banks (ACAMB) to accelerate Nigeria’s economic growth.
CIBN President, Prof. Pius Olarenwaju, made the pledge when ACAMB executives and trustees visited the institute’s chamber in Victoria Island, Lagos State.

Olarenwaju commended ACAMB’s collaboration with CIBN in information management, saying it had raised standards across Nigeria’s banking sector.
“ACAMB’s support has given CIBN and the banking sector brand equity,” he said, praising the association’s record in reputation management.
He recalled ACAMB’s role in addressing crises within the sector, describing the partnership as strategic and beneficial.
“Sticking together in the financial services ecosystem is helping us build Nigeria’s economy,” Olarenwaju said.
He pledged support for ACAMB’s 30th anniversary in September 2026, its AGM, and other programmes, including fundraising initiatives.
Olarenwaju also promised backing for ACAMB’s capability development and undergraduate mentorship schemes.
He assured a facelift for ACAMB’s secretariat entrance at Bankers House, citing ongoing renovation works within the building.
Earlier, ACAMB President, Mr Jide Sipe, thanked CIBN for its guidance and outlined the association’s programmes and rebranding vision.
Sipe stressed the need to integrate banking operations with corporate communications to strengthen the industry.
Speaking with journalists, he said ACAMB was expanding and preparing for its 30th anniversary celebration.
He noted that the association was blending the wisdom of elders with youthful innovation to ensure sustainable growth.
Reviewing its 30-year journey, Sipe highlighted achievements and future projections for the association.
“ACAMB has done tremendously well over the years,” he said.
He described ACAMB as a gatekeeper shaping policy narratives and communicating banking issues nationwide.
“The collaboration between CIBN and ACAMB cannot be underestimated. That synergy is very strong,” he said.
He noted that as banking drives Nigeria’s economy, negative perceptions about banks could harm national growth.
“As they create policies for professionalism, we shape narratives and project a positive image for Nigerian banking,” Sipe said.
ACAMB Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr Tunde Lemo, commended Olarenwaju for his personal commitment to the association.
Lemo, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, urged CIBN to encourage stronger bank support for ACAMB initiatives. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
