A Life Camp Chief Magistrates’Court in Abuja on Friday, sentenced a 20 -year- old driver, Amir Adamu to two months imprisonment for stealing a gas cylinder from a hospital.
The court sentenced Adamu, who lives in Godab, Life Camp Abuja after he pleaded guilty to Criminal trespass and theft.
Delivering his judgment, Chief Magistrate Musa Jobbo, held that Adamu was convicted and sentenced based on the fact of the case.
Jobbo however gave Adamu an option of N5,000 fine and advised him to change his life.
Earlier the prosecution counsel, Mrs Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that on March 13 the complainant, Mrs precious John, who lives in Angwa Moyo Osafe Abuja reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station.
Nwachukwu said that the convict criminally trespassed into the Gwarinpa General Hospital and took a 5kg gas cylinder.
During investigation, she said, the gas cylinder was recovered from the convict while he admitted committing the offence.
The offence, the police said, contravened the provisions of sections 348 and 287 of the Penal Code (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
