The World Sustainable Development Goals Organisation has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts to urgently intervene in the crisis surrounding the Kano Central Senatorial District flag bearership.

Dr Emmanuel Daudu, the organisation’s Head of Politics and Peace Desk, made the call at a news conference on Saturday in Abuja.

He described the unrest in the district as unfortunate and capable of threatening the peace, unity and political stability within the party.

Daudu said that excluding and denying aspirants fair political participation could create tension and dissatisfaction among supporters.

He said that democracy thrives on inclusiveness, justice and fairness.

“Unrest reportedly erupted in parts of Kano Central Senatorial District following the exclusion of Abdussalam Zaura as an APC flag bearer, leading to heightened tension and reported loss of lives in the area.

“Zaura is a philanthropist, businessman and humanitarian whose contributions to community development, youth empowerment and economic support has positively impacted lives across and beyond.

“Zaura has remained one of the most suitable personalities to represent the interests and aspirations of the people due to his longstanding commitment to humanitarian service and grassroots development,” he said.

Daudu noted that Zaura had also undertaken several humanitarian initiatives, including the distribution of more than 200 vehicles, and over 1,000 motorcycles to the youths.

He said that he also supported the installation of more than 150 electricity transformers in communities.

He said the installation helped to improve power supply and stimulate economic activities in the state.

“Zaura has also organised vocational and skills acquisition programmes for youths and women across the state and other parts of the country.

“These initiatives have contributed significantly to poverty reduction, economic inclusion and sustainable grassroots development,” he said.

Daudu noted that failure by the party stalwarts to urgently intervene in the situation could threaten the unity and stability of the party, as well as undermine societal harmony and human sustainability.

“The organisation is deeply concerned over the development because democracy cannot thrive in the absence of peace, justice and stability,” he added.

The group’s head urged President Bola Tinubu and other APC leaders to intervene in the crisis to restore peace, confidence and order within the Kano Central Senatorial District.

He also appealed to the President to consider Zaura for a federal appointment as a strategic step toward restoring confidence and lasting peace in the area.

“Appointing Zaura into a strategic federal position will not only recognise his humanitarian contributions and loyalty to the party but will encourage youth empowerment, humanitarian service and grassroots development across the country,” he said.

Dauda commended Zaura for remaining loyal to the APC in spite of the political development and his continued support for President Tinubu’s administration and the government of Kano State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Zaura was an aspirant for the Kano Central Senatorial District party primary elections, but his name was removed from the APC flag bearership list. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
