An interest group, Northern Economic League (NEL), has endorsed Mohammed Hayatu-Deen for president on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The group, in a statement issued by the Convener, Dr Habib Abdullah, on Tuesday in Abuja, said the endorsement followed consultations and assessments of all the presidential aspirants seeking to address Nigeria’s economic challenges.

It said that Hayatu-Deen emerged as the most competent aspirant after reviewing all the aspirants’ public interventions, experience, policy positions and understanding of Nigeria’s security challenges.

“The North today carries a dangerous burden of poverty, insecurity, unemployment and hopelessness, while many politicians continue speaking in slogans instead of practical solutions.

“We asked ourselves who among those seeking power truly understands the depth of Nigeria’s crisis, especially in Northern Nigeria. The answer was Hayatu-Deen,” it said.

The group commended Hayatu-Deen’s focus on tackling rising living costs, restoring investor confidence, rebuilding productive sectors and addressing insecurity through economic inclusion reforms.

It warned against allowing the 2027 presidential election to become another political contest driven by entitlement, sentiment and recycled political calculations across the country.

“At a time millions struggle daily, Hayatu-Deen remains focused on how Nigeria can become productive again instead of engaging in political arithmetic.

“Nigeria needs a problem-solver capable of stopping the bleeding confronting citizens across every region,” it stated.

The group described Hayatu-Deen as a bridge between competence and credibility, adding that his background in economics, finance and institutional leadership were critical national assets.

It urged ADC delegates and Nigerians across political divides to support Hayatu-Deen’s presidential ambition.

“The era of electing leaders based on tribe, noise or political mythology must end because hunger, inflation and insecurity affect every Nigerian equally.

“This is not the time for comfortable politics. History will not forgive leaders who choose familiarity over competence despite clear warning signs,” the league added.(NAN)
