Mr Gbenga Abiola, All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Agege Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has urged peace ahead of Wednesday’s primary election.
Abiola appealed to supporters and party faithful to avoid violence, intimidation and any actions capable of disrupting peaceful conduct of the exercise.
The immediate past Vice Chairman of Agege Local Government gave the advice in an election message on Tuesday in Lagos.
He said the primary election should not be treated as a do-or-die affair, stressing that APC remains one family.
Abiola said unity and stability of APC in Agege Constituency. I must be protected above personal ambitions and political interests.
According to him, his aspiration is driven by passion for service and calls from residents who believe in his capacity for representation.
He said the ambition was rooted in desire to deepen grassroots development and contribute to legislative interventions in the constituency.
Abiola noted that his years of public service prepared him for effective representation and higher responsibilities.
The APC chieftain said his experience as former Sole Administrator and Secretary to Agege Local Government improved understanding of people’s needs.
He added his role as National Coordinator of Tinubu Media Force strengthened commitment to progressive ideals and people-oriented leadership.
Abiola stressed that no political ambition was worth bloodshed or injury to any individual.
“I want to sincerely appeal to all our supporters and APC members in Agege Constituency I to remain calm, orderly, and peaceful throughout the primary process.
“This ambition is borne out of passion and genuine calls from our people who believe in our vision and capacity to serve them diligently.
“However, no ambition is worth the blood of anyone. We must not allow politics to divide us or push us into violence and unnecessary confrontation,” he said.
Abiola urged youths and loyalists not to allow themselves to be used to foment trouble within the constituency.
He warned against intimidation, harassment and verbal attacks during the primary election process.
Abiola also cautioned supporters against spreading falsehood and engaging in inflammatory campaigns capable of heating up the polity.
He urged party members to cooperate with party leaders and electoral officials assigned to oversee the exercise.
According to him, leaders and stakeholders in Agege have continued to sustain unity and stability of APC in the constituency
Abiola expressed gratitude to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, whom he described as political leader and benefactor.
He said Obasa deserved honour and respect for his contributions to the political development of Agege.
“I have tremendous respect and regard for Mudashiru Obasa who has contributed immensely to the political growth and development of Agege.
“Our larger objective as a party is victory in the general elections and collective progress for our people,” he said.
Abiola urged supporters to remain disciplined irrespective of the outcome of the primary election.
He expressed confidence in the leadership of APC to conduct a transparent, credible and peaceful primary election in Agege. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng).
