The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly Legislative Aides Support Group (ANALAG) has commenced mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the return of APC lawmakers in the 2027 general elections.
The National Coordinator of ANALAG, Mrs Ayoola Fakunle, disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja, saying the group planned to mobilise at least one million supporters in each of the 36 states.
Fakunle said the group, made up of legislative aides and supporters of lawmakers, would leverage its grassroots structures to support the president and APC candidates ahead of the elections.
“Our aim and objective is to support Mr President for his re-election in 2027 because of the good work he has been doing for Nigeria.
“The lawmakers have also been performing wonderfully well. They are our principals and we are in support of them,” she said.
She commended Tinubu for his bold measures to address economic challenges, including the removal of fuel subsidy.
Fakunle, however, urged government to increase support for education, healthcare and young graduates to cushion the impact of economic reforms.
She said the group had coordinators across the 36 states and would begin nationwide grassroots mobilisation after its Abuja activities.
Also speaking, the National Secretary of ANALAG, Mr Mike Anibueze, said the group was formally launching its mobilisation drive to support Tinubu’s re-election bid and the return of APC lawmakers.
Anibueze said the group would rely on its grassroots networks to mobilise support for the administration and its candidates.
He urged government to sustain interventions in education, healthcare and other sectors affecting citizens’ welfare.
A member of the group from the South-East zone, Mr William Onyemaechi, said legislative aides were strategically positioned to mobilise support because of their connection with constituencies.
Onyemaechi urged Nigerians, especially youths, to support the administration, citing fuel subsidy removal and efforts towards local government autonomy as key reforms.
He said some benefits of the reforms might take time to materialise, urging Nigerians to remain patient with the process.
Similarly, Hajiya Halimat Akokhia expressed support for Tinubu, saying members were prepared to mobilise voters for his re-election.
She said the group believed the administration had recorded progress since assuming office and would continue to support the president. (NAN)
