Mr Kehinde Almaroof-Oloyede, Chairman, Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Lagos, has urged residents to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 elections to sustain development and effective representation.
He made the appeal at the flag-off ceremony of APC candidates for Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I on Thursday in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the candidates are Mr Mayowa Alakija, popularly known as Bibire, for the Lagos State House of Assembly and Mr Taiwo Ayedun for the House of Representatives.
Almaroof-Oloyede commended the candidates for their records of service and contributions to governance.
He urged residents to support their continued commitment to development and human capital advancement.
The chairman also called for party unity and commended leaders and aspirants who had placed the party’s collective interest above personal ambitions.
He said President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, particularly fuel subsidy removal and improved revenue generation, had strengthened allocations to the three tiers of government.
Almaroof-Oloyede said his administration had demonstrated commitment to responsible governance through various infrastructure and social development projects.
“So far, our administration has completed over 90 roads, provided 115 boreholes to improve access to potable water, and installed solar-powered streetlights in over 50 locations,” he said.
He added that the administration had upgraded three primary healthcare centres, with Ogunlana Health Centre nearing completion.
The chairman also said the council was developing a state-of-the-art primary school at St. Paul Primary School.
He expressed confidence in the APC candidates, saying their records of service and contributions to development justified their re-election.
On party reconciliation, Almaroof-Oloyede said a reconciliation committee had submitted its report.
He added that some aggrieved members had already indicated their willingness to return to the party.
Also speaking, Mr Taiwo Ayedun, APC candidate for Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency I, pledged effective representation and protection of constituents’ interests if elected.
Ayedun said his eight years of experience as a Senior Legislative Aide had equipped him with the knowledge of legislative processes required for effective representation.
“I am going to represent the people of Oshodi-Isolo effectively, protect the interests of my constituency and give our people the best,” he said.
On party reconciliation, Ayedun said the council chairman had established a committee to address grievances.
He added that he and other aspirants were engaging party leaders to reunite aggrieved members.
Ayedun expressed confidence that the APC would win the 2027 elections through collective efforts and party unity.
Also, Mr Mayowa Alakija, APC candidate for Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, pledged result driven representation.
Alakija said his legislative agenda would address the needs of market women, youths, students and other residents through responsive policies.
“We need a good representative, one driven by results, passion and well-grounded in the needs of the populace at the community level,” he said.
Alakija said his performance and contributions at the grassroots would determine his chances of securing re-election.
He expressed confidence that his community would support his return based on his achievements.
“My work, my contribution will speak for me appropriately, and I strongly believe that my community will be willing to ensure that I represent them again and again,” he said.
Alakija said his previous experience as Education Secretary had prepared him for legislative responsibilities.
He added that his contributions to grassroots development would demonstrate his capacity to represent the constituency. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
