Osun: Arrested suspects not Accord members- Imumolen

By Grant Onyeke

Prof. Chris Imumolen, factional National Chairman of the Accord Party, says individuals recently arrested in Osun and being investigated by the police are not recognised members or stakeholders of the party.

Imumolen stated this in a statement on Friday in Abuja while reacting to comments by Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun that some Accord members were being detained by the Nigeria Police Force.

He said the party was not aware of the individuals’ membership and urged caution in linking persons under investigation with the party.

“Accord Party is built on the pillars of fairness, justice, and progress. We will not allow our image to be tarnished or associated with values that run contrary to our founding principles,” Imumolen stated.

According to him, Accord remained committed to the rule of law and would not interfere with lawful investigations by security agencies.

He said anyone found to have committed an offence should face the appropriate legal process, irrespective of political affiliation.

Imumolen also welcomed a recent Court of Appeal judgment on the party’s leadership structure, saying it provided clarity on its administrative arrangements.

He added that the ruling would help strengthen the party’s internal organisation.(NAN) www.nannews.ng
